Dromore vs CIYMS Preview 31st August 2019

Barban Hill. A tough place for CIYMS to open our league campaign, and a venue our travelling support know well. Fixtures between the two sides are always feisty affairs and we know we can expect a lively welcome once again. Dromore will undoubtedly have the traditionally partisan crowd behind them….. but the weather may for once be kinder than some of the grim conditions we’ve faced there in recent years.

We head south on Saturday on the back of an impressive 36-15 Lockington Trophy win away to Dundalk last week, having bagged six tries in an tremendous display of trademark CI running Rugby. More of the same will certainly be required on Saturday. We should remember Matt Kilgore’s display against Dromore in March , scoring a record 32 points in one of the grittiest and most exciting games at Belmont last year. More of the same please Matt! And we expect a couple of League debuts for some of our summer recruits. So we have a lot of positives to take into the game. As for Dromore, we know we can expect strong running and accurate kicking from Lee Steenson at scrum half and the “Blackie” the biggest prop in the league will be looking to exert his influence.

August is the best time to head to Barban Hill so lets have a big , vocal travelling support to get behind the boys and kick the season off in style.
