GROSVENOR VS CIYMS PREVIEW

GROSVENOR VS CIYMS PREVIEW

Saturday sees CIYMS RFC make the short trip across East Belfast to face old rivals Grosvenor RFC. Both league games were fiercely contested last year and no doubt Saturday’s clash will be just as competitive. CI deservedly won away to Ballymena 2s in the Junior Cup last week with excellent tries from Jason Gilliland, Josh Newell and Calum Holland. It was a strong team performance and another one will be needed this week. Grosvenor deservedly finished in the Top 4 last year, also winning the McCrea Cup and are sure to challenge in all competitions again this year. They ran Instonians close a couple of weeks back and had a week off last week with a bye in the Junior Cup. We will no doubt see a few enforced changes to a CI side that has already used 31 players in 3 games but whatever the line-up, the motivation will not be in question.

In the other Championship One clashes, new boys Clogher Valley will be looking for a first League win at home to Cooke.  Dromore and Ballyclare meet on Barban Hill in a game that will have a huge bearing on the race for the League, with the home side slight favourites, and Instonians will be keen to close the gap with a home win against a Portadown team looking for their first League win.

CI Seconds entertain Randalstown 2s at Belmont on Saturday and will look to repeat the high scoring performance last week v Ards 2s

Good luck to both CI sides.
