19 Dec CIYMS VS DROMORE PREVIEW
The half way point in the season was reached a fortnight ago with CIYMS 1st XV finally finding that emphatic win we knew was in them. A resounding six try bonus point win gave us a critical lifeline and widened the gap between us and bottom placed Portadown. The Chambers Park men lost again last week, missing the chance to close the gap with CI playing a Conference game in Armagh. Not far above us we have near neighbours Cooke and Grosvenor only 6 and 5 points ahead of us respectively – a gap that can definitely be closed, with both facing tough away trips this week. Grosvenor come to Belmont on the 28th – another golden opportunity to climb clear of the bottom. So the season is far from over.
Dromore, this week’s visitors have come out on top in both of our clashes this year but the Cup game at Belmont which saw a three try second half rally by CI might be a better predictor in terms of closeness.
And with a strong squad available for selection – we might even see an upset. As we did last season. Here’s hoping.
Merry Christmas to all.
